SEOUL, Nov. 9 (Korea Bizwire) — POSCO O&M, a facility management unit of POSCO Engineering & Construction Co., said Monday that it had joined hands with local social venture firm Zainer to produce eco-knives by upcycling scrap metal.
The eco-knife was unveiled on Wadiz, South Korea’s largest crowdfunding platform. The funding project will continue until Nov. 29.
The eco-knives will be made with iron scraps produced at POSCO O&M’s recycling plant in Pohang.
The iron will be forged, polished, and quenched to produce a quality blade, the company said.
This upcycling project is a part of POSCO O&M’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
All profits raised from the project will be donated to environmental organizations and agencies for rearing future generations.
