SEOUL, Aug. 27 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Electronics Co.’s new foldable smartphones are garnering major success in India following a successful launch in South Korea as customers are rushing to place pre-orders.
Samsung’s Indian branch reported that pre-orders for third-generation foldable devices — the Galaxy Z Fold3 and the Galaxy Z Flip3 — on the first day of sales on Tuesday surpassed last year’s Galaxy Note 20 smartphone record by a factor of 2.7.
While the exact numbers were not disclosed, it is seen as unusual for India, where customer preference normally leans toward mid to low-price models, to take so much interest in a high-end flagship model.
Both phones will be released in India on Sept. 10. Samsung’s Indian branch has offered a cashback benefit of up to 7,000 rupees (US$94.45) to customers who pre-order the new phones.
