SEOUL, Dec. 4 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s largest online bookseller, Yes24, announced Thursday that President Lee Jae Myung’s book, The People Will Prevail (Ultimately, It’s Up to the People), has been selected as its “Book of the Year,” topping a record-breaking 1.195 million votes cast by readers.
The title received 15,788 votes, or 3.4 percent of the total, placing first among 300 titles shortlisted by Yes24 editors. It marks the first time since the poll began in 2003 that total participation has surpassed one million.
Brian Tracy’s self-help book No Action, No Change ranked second with 13,995 votes, followed by Seong Haena’s short story collection Honmono with 13,764 votes.
Former acting president of the Constitutional Court Moon Hyung-bae’s On Kindness and author Taesu’s essay collection The Quiet Happiness of Adults rounded out the top five.
Voting patterns differed by age group: Honmono was most popular among readers in their teens and 20s, The People Will Prevail led among those in their 30s and 40s, and The People Come First by former Justice Minister Han Dong-hoon drew the strongest support from readers 50 and older.
In total, 24 books were named to Yes24’s 2025 Books of the Year list, including nine works of literature—the most of any category.
