SEOUL, Feb. 16 (Korea Bizwire) — As more people are staying indoors following the coronavirus outbreak, projectors are gaining popularity as people spend longer hours streaming videos from Netflix and other popular media platforms.
South Korea’s projector sales jumped 32 percent last year from a year earlier, according to Danawa, an online price comparison and advertising service provider. Sales spiked in April and November in particular.
Along with increasing projector sales, sales of projection screens jumped by 17 percent last year, compared to the previous year.
The release of highly-end projectors, some outmatching televisions, is seen to have driven the sales boost.
Previously, projectors were far behind televisions in terms of resolution. Now, newer models support up to 4K UHD.
Consumers can screen videos directly from projectors using their smart operating system, without having to mirror videos from smartphones.
