SEOUL, March 8 (Korea Bizwire) — How long do you think three treadmills could operate if they were powered by Hyundai Motor Co.’s newest electric vehicle, the IONIQ 5?
The South Korean auto giant recently unveiled a video in which Atletico Madrid, a Spanish football club that is officially sponsored by the company, carried out a special training session using vehicle-to-load (V2L) function.
In the video, three Atletico Madrid stars – Luis Suarez, Jan Oblak, and Marcos Llorente – exercise on three treadmills that are connected to an IONIQ 5 parked at a soccer field.
The star players go through a drill in which they head balls thrown by their coaches while running on the treadmills installed on the pitch.
According to Hyundai Motor, the IONIQ 5 can operate three treadmills, each with an hourly electricity consumption of 1 kilowatt, for more than 13 hours thanks to its auxiliary battery V2L that can supply 220 Volt power for external use.
Since V2L provides a power output of 3.6 kilowatts, higher than that typically supplied at homes, it can be used freely for a variety of home electronics and other electronic devices in various external environments, including while camping.
