SEOUL, Dec. 25 (Korea Bizwire) — Four members of Korean boy band “Pureboy” became picketers on the streets of Myeongdong for 6 hours on December 22. They protested to see a concert of another Korean boy band, TVXQ, but only in its united form. TVXQ started out as a five-member boy band but was split into two in 2010. Only two members now remain in the band, while the other three members are currently singing in a new band, “JYJ.”
Hyobin, a member of Pureboy, said that while he worked in Japan as a boy band member, he realized that what TVXQ achieved as a boy band in Japan was legendary. He said that he decided to picket since millions of fans around the world would die to see TVXQ performing as a five-member team again.
Another member Hayoung, who was born and raised in L.A., said that he dreamed of being a musician while listening to TVXQ since he was in elementary school. He also noted how TVXQ in its five-member form were the lords of Kpop in the U.S.
The four members of Pureboy picketed for six hours. Some are also questioning whether the boys’ real motive was to create buzz for their new song, “Snow is Falling” which was released on December 23.
