PyeongChang Celebrates Three Years to Go Until 2018 Olympics

SEOUL, Feb. 10 (Korea Bizwire) – Several events took place in PyeongChang to celebrate its three-year countdown to the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. On February 9, about 800 citizens including Choi Moon-Soon, Governor of Gangwon-do, released 2,018 balloons into the air at the Alpensia Ski Jumping Centre Concert Hall to mark the start of three years of preparation for the Winter Olympic Games.

The PyeongChang 2018 Organising Committee (POCOG) also formally appointed former World Short Track speed skating champion Kim Dong-Sung, vocalist Hwang Young-Teak and national Paralympic alpine skier Han Sang-Min as ambassadors for the PyeongChang 2018 Games.

A flash mob of 29 citizens, ‘mini-Olympic’ event, torch relay and an orchestral performance also took place, adding more festiveness to the city.
