HONG KONG, CHINA, Dec. 7 (Korea Bizwire) – BMO Financial Group today announced the appointment of Ravi Sriskandarajah as Managing Director and Head of Global Asset Management (Asia Pacific).

In this role, Mr. Sriskandarajah will be responsible for management oversight, governance and leading the organization’s growth strategy across the Asia Pacific region. He will be based out of Hong Kong and will report to both Barry McInerney, Co-CEO, BMO Global Asset Management and Albert Yu, Chief Executive Officer Asia, BMO Financial Group.

Mr. Sriskandarajah joined the bank in 2013 to lead BMO Global Asset Management’s expansion into Australia. He has more than 15 years of asset management experience in senior roles.

“Ravi is an expert in his field and has a strong financial services network in the Asia Pacific region,” said Mr. McInerney. “Under the guidance of his experienced leadership, BMO Global Asset Management will continue to grow and innovate in this region. I look forward to seeing his team build upon the success we have achieved to date in providing world-class investment capabilities and global expertise.”

Mr. McInerney noted that, with Mr. Sriskandarajah taking on this new role, BMO Global Asset Management will be actively recruiting for an individual to lead its institutional sales business in Australia. The successful candidate will team with Michael Angwin, Director, Intermediary Sales, BMO Global Asset Management. Both will report to Mr. Sriskandarajah.

“BMO has a long history in the Asia Pacific region — dating back to 1818 — and is the only Canadian bank with an established subsidiary bank in Mainland China,” noted Mr. Yu. “Most recently, we became the first Canadian bank to have ETFs listed in Hong Kong. I look forward to working closely with Ravi as we continue to expand our footprint in the region and help retail and institutional clients with their financial needs.”

Mr. Sriskandarajah replaces Amit Prakash, who has moved to a global role within BMO as Managing Director, Global Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and Alternative Investments, BMO Global Asset Management. In his new position, Mr. Prakash will help direct the growth of two global initiatives — ETFs and alternative investments — by identifying opportunities and developing strategic priorities.
