SEOUL, March 30 (Korea Bizwire)Joy, a member of K-pop act Red Velvet, will not perform at upcoming concerts in Pyongyang featuring South Korean artists due to scheduling conflicts with her TV show, the singer’s agency said Friday.

“Due to Joy’s filming of the MBC TV drama ‘The Great Seducer,’ four members — Wendy, Irene, Selgi and Yeri — will attend the Pyongyang concerts,” SM Entertainment announced.

The all-female quintet was announced as part of a South Korean art troupe that will stage two performances in Pyongyang on Sunday and Tuesday.

According to SM, Red Velvet had planned to perform with its full lineup but was told by MBC that the late night TV series could face disruption from Joy’s absence. The singer, whose real name is Park Soo-young, is a lead star of the MBC TV series.

Red Velvet, which debuted in 2014, plans to sing two of its recent hits, “Red Flavor” and “Bad Boy.” As one of the most established K-pop acts today, the band is expected to offer a taste of some of the most cutting-edge K-pop to people in the isolated communist country.
