SEOUL, Feb. 19 (Korea Bizwire) — Renault S.A. will join forces with South Korean businesses and researchers to develop autonomous driving technology, with an aim to apply the knowhow to the French carmaker’s electric vehicles, the trade ministry said Tuesday.
In a business meeting attended by government officials from the two countries in Seoul, the carmaker and participants discussed ways to apply sensor-based technology to drive vehicles, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said in a statement.
“The two sides are considering applying the technology to Renault’s electric vehicles for mass production,” the ministry said.
Renault Samsung Motors Corp. didn’t immediately confirm the technology cooperation between its parent company and Korean partners.
