Retail Industry Ramps Up ‘Tiger’ Marketing in the Year of the Tiger

SEOUL, Jan. 3 (Korea Bizwire)As the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese zodiac begins, the retail industry is promoting a variety of products using tiger characters.

Shinsegae Department Store showed off a variety of products with tiger designs for babies, toddlers and children.

The retailer teamed up with premium children’s clothing brand Ettoi and tiger design brand Muzik Tiger to sell children’s clothes featuring tiger characters.

The store also showcased bedding embroidered with tiger designs, and Shinsegae Food Inc.’s premium bakery The Menagerie released tiger-shaped cakes.

Lotte Department Store is selling a limited edition of tiger-illustrated Sulwhasoo cosmetics products at its branches across the country.

Convenience store chain CU joined hands with cereal brand Kellogg’s, which uses Tony the Tiger as its mascot, to release a simple meal series.

The simple meals, consisting of chicken, pizza, hot dog and salad, are wrapped in special packaging designed with Tony the Tiger.

In collaboration with the Korea Gold Exchange, E-Mart 24 is scheduled to sell a tiger-designed gold bar until Jan. 21.
