Retailers Open String of Eye-catching Pop-up Stores

SEOUL, Aug. 30 (Korea Bizwire)South Korea’s major retailers are opening a string of unique pop-up stores as part of efforts to attract more customers.

Galleria Department Store is striving to emphasize its “premium” image, opened a Hermes pop-up store for male customers in earlier this month.

In September last year, Gucci and Valencia held a “hacker project,” an event replacing their respective logos, at the department store.

Lotte Shopping is concentrating efforts to leverage the ample “square” in Lotte World Tower, which has a floor space of 2,214 square meters.

Convenience store chain 7-Eleven, operated by Lotte’s affiliate Korea Seven Co., plans to run a Smiling Pokemon Play Zone consisting of a 15-meter-long Pikachu and 30 different kinds of popular Pokemon structures in the square until Sept. 12.

Hyundai Department Store plans to host a string of eye-catching pop-up events targeting young customers in their 20s and 30s.

At the Hyundai Seoul located in Yeouido, a new pop-up store selling CDs, stickers and postcards to celebrate the debut of the new girl group NewJeans opened on Aug. 11.
