SEOUL, Jan. 24 (Korea Bizwire) — Doosan Robotics is rolling out sophisticated food and beverage solutions featuring collaborative robots that can pour beer and mix cocktails, with its latest installations appearing at South Korea’s major airports, the company announced on January 23.

The company has deployed its automated beer-dispensing system at the Airbot Bar within the Ourhome Culinary Square at Incheon International Airport’s Terminal 2. The robotic system, which uses the NSF-certified E-Series collaborative robot, performs the entire service process autonomously, from picking up disposable cups to pouring draft beer, serving, and cleaning.

The system can store up to eight kegs (40 liters each) of draft beer and pours a perfect 14-ounce (414ml) serving in 43 seconds, maintaining consistent beer-to-foam ratios. The deployment follows a May 2023 memorandum of understanding between Doosan Robotics and Incheon International Airport Corporation to establish digital transformation initiatives, including the creation of innovative dining zones.

In a separate development, the company installed an AI-powered cocktail-making robot at Lotte Duty Free in Gimpo International Airport on January 15. This sophisticated system analyzes customers’ facial expressions to detect seven different emotional states — neutral, happiness, sadness, anger, fear, disgust, and surprise — and recommends cocktails to match their mood.

The cocktail-making system employs generative AI trained on professional bartenders’ recipes to create 19 different cocktails. Two collaborative robots work in tandem to handle various tasks, including dispensing beverages, shaking cocktails, handling cups, and cleaning.

“We have been systematically expanding our F&B solutions using collaborative robots, from coffee and fried foods to noodles, and now beer and cocktails, to broaden our customer base,” said a Doosan Robotics representative. The company plans to explore additional applications, including baggage handling solutions for airports.
