SEOUL, May 27 (Korea Bizwire) — The owner of a Rottweiler that killed a strolling spitz and hurt its owner has been fined.
Seoul Western District Court fined a 76-year-old man surnamed Lee 6 million won (US$5,370) on Wednesday for violating legislation on animal protection and property damage.
“The accused has admitted to violating the animal protection act, and corroborating evidence has proven him guilty,” the court said.
“The court finds the defendant not guilty on the charge of property damage, however, since there is no evidence to support the plaintiff’s claims of such acts.”
Lee was accused of failing to put a muzzle on the Rottweiler last July at a local residential area in Seoul, resulting in the death of a spitz and injury of its owner.
Property damage for killing the spitz, however, is valid only if evidence proves that the act was intentional.
