SEOUL, Dec. 27 (Korea Bizwire)The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), South Korea’s state overseas aid agency, announced that it has built vocational training centers for women in Kogon, Qorako’l, and Shofirkon in Uzbekistan’s Bukhara region.

These three districts have been known to struggle with high unemployment among women and have also been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The centers will train women undergoing financial difficulties following the coronavirus outbreak for various jobs including those in the beauty, sewing, bakery, nursing and IT sectors.

KOICA signed a memorandum of understanding with the ministry last September to support vulnerable groups in Uzbekistan affected by the pandemic.
