SEOUL, Nov. 2 (Korea Bizwire) — The U.S.-based Korea Defense Veterans Association (KDVA) and the South Korea-U.S. Alliance Foundation announced Tuesday that it has invited former U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) service members to South Korea as part of a temporary visitors program.
The program was held for the second time after last year. This year’s program was funded by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.
The participants were former USFK service members who served throughout the 1950s all the way to the 2010s, between 50 and 90 years of age.
The program was joined not only by the U.S. forces but also by the U.N. forces including the British and Italian service members who fought in the Korean War.
The participants paid respects at the Seoul National Cemetery and visited the National War Memorial, followed by the Joint Security Area (JSA), Camp Hovey in Dongducheon, Osan Air Base and U.S. Army base Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek.
