SEOUL, Dec. 20 (Korea Bizwire) — The government plans to support small-lot-size production of automobiles and boost the car tuning industry.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on Thursday that it has come up with a follow-up plan for the Car Tuning Industry Promotion Plan revealed in August.
The follow-up plan will amend relevant legislation by early next year, and lift restrictions on small-lot-size production of automobiles.
The government also plans to offer consulting services for production and authorization of small-lot-size production, provide technological assistance, and hold special car tuning events to promote the car tuning industry.
Next year, the government will work with local tour programs and festivals as it holds various car tuning events including competitions, exhibitions, and experience programs.
A job portal for the car tuning industry will also be created to resolve the lack of programs to support jobs and startups specializing in car tuning.
The government will work with relevant agencies to computerize various car tuning blueprints and develop programs for modifying car specifications to lower the cost and technological barrier for incoming startups.
“This initiative is expected to incorporate tuning enthusiasts and outside specialists into the official car tuning market,” said a government official.
