SEOUL, May 17 (Korea Bizwire) — The K-Drama at LA Screening 2019 was held in West Hollywood on Wednesday (local time).
The event was hosted by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) for the promotion of K-dramas in the American market, where “Sky Castle” and 10 other popular Korean dramas have been screened.
Staff from Paramount, Warner Brothers, Fox, as well as Hollywood studio producers and production companies from Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico participated in the event.
“Sky Castle,” a popular South Korean drama that achieved 24.6 percent viewership, drew the attention of many participants.
“Companies from as far as South America also came to our event to purchase licenses for Korean dramas. We did not expect this,” said Kim Cheol-min, head of the KOCCA LA office.
A Spanish-dubbed teaser of “Doctors,” another South Korean drama produced by Seoul Broadcasting System, mesmerized South American clients.
Some 130 clients who participated in the showcase met with K-drama producers to discuss licensing and export.
The screening event will continue until Friday.
