S. Korean AI Healthcare Startups Building Strong Track Records

SEOUL, Sept. 6 (Korea Bizwire)South Korea’s artificial intelligence (AI)-based medical equipment startups are establishing solid track records, playing a leading role in the digital healthcare market.

A medical AI solution firm VUNO Inc., for instance, recently acquired licenses from the health authorities of Saudi Arabia and Thailand for its AI-based chest X-ray image reading solution.

The company also received certification from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for its Hativ Pro personal electrocardiogram device last month, making a foray into the business-to-consumer (B2C) market.

Healthcare startup Lunit also acquired a license for sales of its AI-based mammography image analysis solution Lunit Insight MMG from Taiwan late last month.

Thus far, Lunit has obtained certification from about 30 countries for its Insight MMG and lung disease diagnosis AI solution Insight CXR.

Joint studies are also actively underway.

Digital healthcare firm HUINNO Inc. formed a business tie-up with Johnson & Johnson (J&J) MedTech Korea, the South Korean unit of U.S. pharmaceutical giant J&J SA’s medical devices affiliate, last month to develop a data-based arrhythmia diagnosis platform.

lululab, is an AI-based beauty care service startup, signed a joint research contract with Hanoi Medical University in Vietnam to develop an AI analysis solution for skin diseases.
