S. Korean Gov’t to Train Jobseekers for Drone and Big Data Industry

SEOUL, Jun. 29 (Korea Bizwire) — The Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) has announced plans to help train South Korean jobseekers for over 2,800 emerging jobs that have been identified as particularly relevant to future demand.

Ranging from high technology including 3D printing, IoT, big data, solar energy, and drones to cultural content development, South Koreans seeking employment will be given the opportunity to undertake a job training course at 1,232 training centers around the country, which will see them prepared for some of the most in-demand jobs at the moment.

Under the MOEL’s new scheme, job seekers eligible for the training for 789 in-demand jobs will have their training expenses, commuting expenses and meals covered for a period between three months and 12 months, with a monthly budget of up to 316,000 won.

Those currently unemployed who are also eligible for the MOEL’s job training scheme for the other 2,015 jobs will be given financial support of up to 2 million won, which will cover 20 to 95 percent of the training fees, with a monthly allowance of up to 116,000 won.
