SEOUL, Jul. 2 (Korea Bizwire)The Korea International Trade Association (KITA), a major South Korean business lobby, said Tuesday it has opened an office in the U.S. city of Dallas.

KITA said it held an opening ceremony for the office in the major city in Texas on Monday (local time) in the presence of around 50 dignitaries and guests, including Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R-Texas), Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson and Jung Young-ho, South Korean consul general in Houston.

The Dallas office will oversee support for Korean businesses operating in the south central and western regions of the U.S., including Texas, Georgia and California.

KITA said it expects to breathe energy into Korean companies’ exports by providing local market information and operating support programs to create business opportunities for companies from both nations.

Yoon Jin-sik, chairman of KITA, said at the opening ceremony that the office “will play a pivotal role in supporting Korean companies’ entry into Texas and strengthening cooperation with local businesses.”
