S. Korean Wheelchair Curling Team Suffers 2nd Loss at PyeongChang Paralympics

GANGNEUNG, South Korea, March 14 (Korea Bizwire) – South Korea’s mixed wheelchair curling team suffered its second loss at the PyeongChang Winter Paralympics on Wednesday.

The team of Seo Soon-seok, Bang Min-ja, Cha Jae-goan, Jung Seung-won, Lee Dong-ha, fell to Norway 9-2 in their eighth match in the wheelchair curling competition at the PyeongChang Winter Paralympic Games.

South Korea now has six wins and two losses with three more matches remaining in the qualifying round. The team will next face Sweden at Gangneung Curling Centre in Gangneung, Gangwon Province, later Wednesday.

South Korea was tied with Norway 2-2 until the second end, but gave up three points in the next two ends. In the sixth end, South Korea surrendered four points and decided to forfeit the match.

The wheelchair curling competition at the PyeongChang Paralympics is being held in a round-robin format featuring 12 teams. The round-robin matches will wrap up Thursday and will be followed by the semifinals on Friday. Medal winners will be determined on Saturday.

South Korea, ranked seventh in the world, believes earning seven or eight wins in the qualifying round will be enough to reach the last four.
