SEOUL, Nov. 4 (Korea Bizwire) — South Koreans are increasingly preferring home meal deliveries.
Innocean Worldwide Inc., a local advertisement agency, released a report on Sunday that compiled some 1.7 million data records produced on online forums and social media between August 2018 and July 2019.
The report showed that South Koreans are increasingly preferring to maximize the efficiency of domestic labor, and shorter time spent cooking among households suggests new trends in home meals.
The report was created based on an analysis of the two keywords ‘cooking’ and ‘famous restaurants’ found on online search portals in the last 12 months.
As for ‘cooking,’ South Koreans used the term with ‘mother’ (167,655 cases), ‘eating shows’ (115,545), and ‘recipes’ (80,062).
The trend is most likely influenced by the rise of ‘smart recipes,’ driven by recent collaboration among home appliance manufacturers, food producers, and recipe publishers.
The report said that the expansion of ‘smart homes’ is “turning recipes into content, a new breakthrough for competitiveness.”
As for ‘famous restaurants,’ the term was used with ‘Korean food’ (91,971 cases), ‘plating’ (38,106), and ‘delivery’ (28,251), indicating a correlation between Korean food and delivery.
With the growth of delivery apps, Korean food delivery is replacing the traditional sense of home dining.
Terms related to ‘home meal shopping’ include ‘online’ and ‘early morning’, which reflect the recent growth of the early morning delivery market.
“High quality early morning delivery services are raising the standard of home meals, where customers can enjoy the vegetables, fruits, and sauces of their choice delivered to their doorstep,” said Innocean.
