SEOUL, Dec. 31 (Korea Bizwire) — A recent study revealed that South Koreans prefer a woman with an oval face, wide forehead and small lips.
The female face shape preferred by South Koreans turned out to be different from the one preferred by Paraguayans.
A joint research team from the Catholic University of Korea Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital, the King Faisal University of Saudi Arabia and the University of Arizona in the U.S. announced the results of an analysis on the aesthetic facial standards preferred by South Koreans and Paraguayans on Wednesday.
The research team used 3D cameras to take photos of front and side shape of the faces of 54 Miss Korea beauty pageant contestants and 34 Miss Paraguay contestants and then measured the length and angle of their faces.
The research team evaluated and compared the measured values with the golden ratio of the western countries.
The study found that South Koreans prefer an oval face with a wide forehead and small lips, while Paraguayans showed preference towards slightly angular face shape and big lips.
The face shapes preferred by the two countries were also different from the western countries’ golden ratio.
