SEOUL, Feb. 9 (Korea Bizwire) Among the Winter Olympic categories watched on YouTube, no country watches speed skating competitions more than South Koreans, the streaming service has revealed.

In fact, South Koreans watched 10 times more speed skating via YouTube than any other country, befitting a nation that is considered a speed skating powerhouse, especially in short-track events (South Korea has won the gold medal 20 times in short-track speed skating since the 1992 Winter Olympics).

As a whole, ice hockey and figure skating were the most viewed on its site, YouTube explained. The former was most watched in the United States, Canada and Russia, while the latter held pole position in Japan.

Bobsleigh events were popular in South American countries (Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile) while Australians typically tuned in to watch snowboarding.
