S. Korea’s E-cigarette Warning Images Lauded in WHO Report

SEOUL, July 30 (Korea Bizwire)The global health body introduced the South Korean system of requiring warning images on electronic cigarettes as an exemplary case in its latest report.

The Report on the Global Tobacco Epidemic is a biannual survey released by the World Health Organization (WHO) on the basis of its evaluation of the implementation level of MPOWER, a set of cost-effective measures to help countries reduce demand for tobacco.

The main theme of the eighth report was new types of tobacco.

The WHO highly assessed South Korea’s e-cigarette warning images for being developed on the basis of scientific grounds in the presence of related departments, professionals and civil society.

According to the WHO, South Korea has mandated the inclusion of warning images for e-cigarettes, a world first.
