DANYANG, June 23 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s first alpine slide, which will offer riders thrills and a spectacular view of the surrounding landscape, is set to open next month at Danyang in South Chungcheong Province.
According to the Danyang County government on Monday, the Mancheonha Slide is scheduled to start operations from next month in the Mancheonha Theme Park, which the county government set up with a budget of 1.59 billion won (US$1.31 million).
The Mancheonha Slide is a cylinder-type slide enabling riders to rocket down a 264-meter course at a maximum speed of 30 kilometers per hour.
While sliding down, riders can enjoy the view of neighboring Suyanggye Ecological Park and the Danyang River.
The new slide is the first of its kind in South Korea, and follows in the footsteps of similar attractions in heavily forested countries such as Austria and Australia.
A ride on the slide will cost 13,000 won per adult, and 3,000 won will be refunded in the format of a “Danyang Love” coupon.
The Mancheonha Theme Park will also launch the operation of a monorail from October. The monorail will run from the ticket office to the Manhakcheonbong observatory.
