CHUNGJU, March 23 (Korea Bizwire)South Korea’s first biogas hydrogen fueling station, which uses food waste to produce and supply hydrogen fuel, opened in Chungju, 147 kilometers south of Seoul, on Wednesday.

The Chungju Bio-Hydrogen Refueling Station uses biogas produced at the Chungju Food Bio Energy Center to make highly concentrated, eco-friendly hydrogen with more than 99.99 percent purity.

The station is capable of fueling hydrogen cars and also supplies other hydrogen stations nearby using tube trailers.

Around 12.3 billion won (US$10 million) has been spent to build an operating system that integrates the production, storage, transport, fueling and sales process.
