Seoul, July 22 (Korea Bizwire) – The sales of ‘Healing hobby items’ of analog sensibility are increasing in the current digitally flooded society.
AK Mall (www.akmall.com), an online shopping site, notes that sales of fountain pens, calligraphy pens, colored pencils, colored paper, connect-the-dots and coloring books have showed drastic growth compared to the same period last year.
Ever since the ‘Origami Man’ appeared on ‘My Little Television’, sales of colored paper from July 12 to July 21 soared 136 percent compared to the same period last year.
In addition, the increase in those who seek serenity through scent boosted the sales of diffusers (16 percent), scented candles (20 percent) and powdered tea (30 percent).
AK Mall sees this phenomenon as an expansion of hobbies. “Those who sought anti-stress hobbies used to enjoy candles or diffusers that suited their tastes, but now they are expanding their horizons to coloring books, connect-the-dots books, calligraphy pens and colored paper. It seems like they want to escape from the rapid digital society and slip into a personal dimension to avoid stress.”
