SEOUL, Aug. 17 (Korea Bizwire) — With the recent series of fires in BMW vehicles and Korean-made cars, car safety items are selling better than ever.
Ticket Monster, a leading e-commerce website, said revenue derived from sales of car fire extinguishers during a period of two weeks between August 1 to 14 grew by 3,246 percent compared to the same period last year.
This time period coincided with intensifying media coverage of vehicle fires.
In addition, sales of other car safety products grew as well.
Warning triangles for installation on roads that alert drivers of dangers up ahead, emergency hammers that can break open car windows, and other safety devices saw sales growth rates of 300 percent from last year.
In addition, products to help lower the internal temperature of parked cars also grew in popularity, with window shades seeing a 243 percent growth in sales and car fans enjoying a 11 percent growth in revenue.
