SEOUL, Nov. 9 (Korea Bizwire)Some 170,000 units of Apple Inc.’s new iPhone models are estimated to have been sold in South Korea since its release here last week, industry data showed Friday.

The number covers iPhone XS, Max and XR sales via the country’s three leading mobile carriers — SK Telecom Co., KT Corp. and LG Uplus Corp. — from Nov. 2-7.

The amount is down some 60 percent compared to when the iPhone 8 and iPhone X were released last year.

Some 180,000 units of the iPhone 8 were sold in the first week after its release here in 2017, followed by sales of 100,000 units of iPhone X, which was launched three weeks later, according to the data.

The 256GB edition of the iPhone XS has a price tag of 1.58 million won, with that of the 512GB iPhone Max standing at a whopping 1.96 million won. The more affordable iPhone XR, which comes with an LCD screen instead of a premium OLED display, costs 990,000 won for the 64GB version.
