SEOUL, Feb. 28 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics have demonstrated their design prowess at the iF Design Award 2025, one of the world’s top three design competitions, with Samsung securing 75 awards and LG earning 29 distinctions across multiple categories.

Samsung’s OLED TV (model S95C) and the Galaxy Z Flip5 Maison Margiela Edition package were among the company’s most celebrated entries, both earning the competition’s coveted Gold Award. The ultra-slim OLED TV, measuring just 9.9mm in thickness, has been praised for its seamless wall-mounting capability that maximizes viewing immersion.

The special edition Galaxy Z Flip5, created in collaboration with French fashion house Maison Margiela, earned recognition for its innovative packaging design. The package, featuring fabric-textured paper and the fashion house’s signature white stitching, creates an unboxing experience reminiscent of opening a clothing storage box.

Samsung’s winning streak extended across various categories, with 38 awards in products, 16 in user experience (UX) and user interface (UI), 10 in concept design, nine in communication, and one each in packaging and service design. Notable winners included the Bespoke AI Combo washer-dryer, the picture frame-style Music Frame speaker, and the latest iterations of the company’s foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5.

The company’s innovative features also garnered attention, including Samsung Now Plus, which provides useful information such as energy consumption even when the TV is not in use, and Q-Symphony, which analyzes viewing spaces using AI sound technology to enhance immersion.

“These awards reflect our dedication to design that fulfills the core functions and purposes of our products,” said Roh Tae-moon, head of Samsung’s Corporate Design Center. “We will continue to innovate in design to harmonize with consumers’ evolving lifestyles and deliver meaningful customer experiences.”

LG Electronics secured 29 awards, including 22 in product design and seven in UX design. The company’s LG SIGNATURE washer-dryer, Korea’s first heat pump all-in-one laundry solution, received recognition in both the product and UX categories. Other winning products included the LG OLED Bon Voyage TV, LG MicroLED TV, LG StanbyME Go, LG CLOi robots, and electric vehicle chargers.

The iF Design Award, established in 1953 by the German International Forum, evaluates entries across nine categories, including product design, packaging, communication, concept, interior architecture, service design, and user experience. The competition assesses design distinctiveness and impact among its criteria.
