SEOUL, Jan. 7 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics unveiled their latest innovations in AI-driven television technology at CES 2025, the world’s largest consumer electronics and IT exhibition, held from January 7 to 10 in Las Vegas.
Building on last year’s debut of transparent micro LED and wireless OLED TVs, both companies have shifted focus this year to ultra-personalized user experiences.
AI as the New Frontier in TV Technology
Samsung introduced its “Vision AI” technology at the Samsung First Look 2025 event on January 5. The AI-powered TVs offer a range of advanced features, including real-time foreign language subtitle translation and tailored information retrieval with a single click.
Acting as a “digital butler,” these TVs analyze user habits, device usage patterns, and even the home environment to deliver insights and care features, such as monitoring family members or pets.
LG Electronics showcased its 2025 premium TV lineup, headlined by the LG OLED Evo. Featuring an upgraded webOS25 platform, the TVs utilize advanced AI to understand complex user queries.
For example, they can recommend family-friendly action movies starring former professional wrestlers based on nuanced voice commands. LG’s new “Magic Remote” with an AI-dedicated button further enhances this experience by offering personalized greetings, weather updates, and content suggestions tailored to viewing history.
Advancing Display and Audio Quality
Samsung and LG also emphasized enhancements in display and sound technologies. Samsung’s Neo QLED TVs, including a groundbreaking 115-inch model, use advanced AI to deliver lifelike visuals and immersive audio.
Meanwhile, LG’s proprietary Alpha 11 AI processor optimizes OLED picture and sound quality, with the flagship 97-inch OLED Evo model boasting three times the brightness of standard OLEDs—the largest of its kind globally.
Catering to the “Bigger is Better” Trend
The trend toward ultra-large TVs was evident in both companies’ offerings. Samsung debuted a 115-inch Neo QLED and expanded its lineup with 100-inch and 98-inch options, while LG highlighted its 97-inch OLED Evo.
Additionally, LG showcased its innovative transparent and wireless TVs introduced last year, including the 77-inch LG Signature OLED T and 65-inch OLED Objet Collection Posé.
Redefining the Role of TVs
Both Samsung and LG envision TVs evolving beyond entertainment devices to become integral household companions. By harnessing AI, their latest models aim to anticipate user needs, deliver personalized experiences, and integrate seamlessly into connected lifestyles.
As CES 2025 sets the stage for the next era of smart home technology, Samsung and LG are positioning themselves as leaders in redefining the TV’s role in modern living.
