SEOUL, Feb. 4 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Electronics said it will showcase an artificial intelligence-powered modular home at “2026 Korea Build Week,” the country’s largest construction and architecture exhibition, opening Wednesday at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province.
In collaboration with Gonggan Workshop, a leading South Korean wooden modular housing company, Samsung has built a 59.5-square-meter model home equipped with its AI Home platform. The structure, assembled in modules, features seven distinct areas — an entrance, laundry room, kitchen, living room, dressing room, bedroom and security zone — each integrated with smart home functions.
Visitors to the exhibit can experience Samsung’s latest AI-driven technologies designed to support daily routines, from arrival and relaxation to sleep management and home security.
The company is also promoting energy-saving solutions tailored to single-family homes, where heating and cooling costs typically exceed those of apartment complexes. When connected to Samsung’s SmartThings platform and operated in AI energy-saving mode, appliances can adjust to usage patterns and environmental conditions, cutting energy consumption by up to 60 percent for washing machines and 30 percent for air conditioners, the company said.
Yang Hye-soon, executive vice president of Samsung’s Digital Appliances division, said the modular home solution demonstrates how the company aims to deliver user-centered housing innovation adaptable to a range of living environments.
