LAS VEGAS/SEOUL, Jan. 13 (Korea Bizwire) —  South Korean startups captivated global audiences at CES 2025, unveiling groundbreaking technologies that earned them top honors in innovation.

Notably, fintech startup Ghostpass secured the Best Innovation Award in the fintech category for its pioneering on-device biometric authentication security solution.

Ghostpass’s technology allows users to store biometric data directly on their smartphones rather than on centralized servers. This patented, fully decentralized authentication system minimizes the risk of mass data breaches.

Demonstrations at CES showcased seamless interactions where users unlocked smart refrigerators and security gates through facial recognition, with purchases automatically processed via pre-registered payment information.

Currently, Ghostpass’s system is installed in over 50 locations of the franchise sushi chain Sangmu Sushi and is set to be implemented at NICE Information Service’s headquarters in the first half of 2025.

A Ghostpass representative emphasized at the C-Lab exhibition booth, “No biometric data is stored on kiosks. Ghostpass is the only company globally that solely stores biometric information on users’ smartphones.”

Ghostpass stands out as the only regional startup among South Korean companies to win the CES Best Innovation Award. It is part of Samsung Electronics’ C-Lab Outside Gwangju program, which supports external startups.
