SEOUL, Aug. 17 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung C&T Corp., a construction and trading business unit of Samsung Group, said Wednesday that its U.S.-based renewable energy subsidiary had sold a 150-megawatt (MW) solar power project in Illinois to a local company.
The company has also entered into a contract to provide development services for the remaining solar power facilities.
This includes acquiring the necessary licenses before commencing the construction of the power plant, thereby establishing an additional revenue stream.
The cumulative capacity of signed solar power development services for this year is estimated at 3,000 MW.
Leveraging its experience gained from energy resource trading, Samsung C&T is bolstering its eco-friendly initiatives, particularly in solar power.
In 2018, it played a pivotal role in developing, constructing, and operating North America’s largest renewable power complex in Ontario, Canada, boasting an impressive scale of 1,369 MW.
Furthermore, the company secured a total of 16.4 gigawatts (GW) worth of solar power and ESS projects in foreign countries. This includes 14.9 GW in the U.S. and 1.3 GW in Australia.
