SEOUL, Jan. 6 (Korea Bizwire) — A new OLED panel manufactured by South Korean display maker Samsung Display Co. has received the industry’s first global certification for its ultra-high brightness of 2,000 nits.
One nit is equal to the luminance of one candle per square meter.
The display maker announced on Thursday that its smartphone OLED acquired the UDR (Ultra Dynamic Range) mark from the U.S.-based safety organization Underwriters Laboratories (UL) at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which is currently being held in Las Vegas.
Samsung Display acquired the UDR1500 and UDR2000 marks for a new smartphone display, confirming its status as a product with ultra-high luminance capacity of up to 2,000 nits.
The company said that it had improved the brightness traits of the smartphone screen with the goal of enabling clear viewing in bright outdoor environments while maintaining the same level of power consumption.
