TAIPEI, May 21 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Display’s latest ultra-high-definition (UHD) QD-OLED panel for gaming monitors is receiving enthusiastic feedback at Computex 2025, Asia’s largest IT trade show, being held through May 23 in Taipei.
Making its debut appearance at the event, Samsung Display unveiled a 27-inch UHD (3840×2160) QD-OLED monitor panel with a pixel density of 160 PPI—the highest in the self-emissive monitor category.
The company began supplying this model to clients earlier this year, and market research firm Omdia estimates first-quarter shipments at approximately 150,000 units, accounting for 27% of all OLED monitor shipments during the period.
Major monitor brands including Samsung Electronics, ASUS, MSI, and Dell have already released products featuring the panel, while others are reportedly planning launches. The widespread anticipation for UHD resolution in the popular 27-inch format has driven significant demand from both manufacturers and consumers.
While UHD self-emissive panels are available in larger sizes such as 32 and 34 inches, Samsung Display is currently the only company offering the resolution at a more accessible 27-inch size—considered the most prevalent format in the monitor market. The company achieved the high resolution by increasing the aperture ratio, or the light-emitting area within each pixel.
Samsung also introduced a pre-commercial 27-inch panel boasting 5K resolution (5120×2880) with 220 PPI at the show, attracting further industry interest.
“This 27-inch segment represents the largest share of the monitor market,” a Samsung Display official said. “Bringing UHD to this format at an affordable price has sparked explosive demand from both consumers and manufacturers, and we are ramping up supply in response.”
The company added that it aims to expand its leadership in the self-emissive monitor space by offering products suited not only for gaming, but also for content consumption and productivity.
