SEOUL, Mar. 10 (Korea Bizwire) –Samsung Display is set to pioneer a new era in the IT industry by launching the world’s first 8.6-generation Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) production line.

The company announced the commencement of this groundbreaking project with an equipment installation ceremony at its Asan campus in South Chungcheong Province on March 8.

This new A6 line represents a significant upgrade from Samsung’s existing L8 line, specifically tailored for IT applications. It marks Samsung’s sixth OLED production line and is poised to become the most advanced OLED line globally upon completion.

In a recent development, Samsung Display completed the construction of clean rooms for the new line and began importing deposition equipment necessary for converting OLED organic materials into display pixels.

This milestone kicks off the installation of key facilities, with the company aiming to enter full-scale production by 2026.

Last April, Samsung Display announced a substantial investment of 4.1 trillion won ($3.5 billion) in the IT OLED sector. This investment aims to establish a production line capable of manufacturing 10 million laptop panels annually by 2026.
