SEOUL, April 11 (Korea Bizwire) – Samsung Display Co. said Wednesday it plans to ask the government to judge whether its workplace assessment report on its production line contains information that needs protection from disclosure.

The move came after Samsung Electronics Co. also made a similar request following the government’s plan to disclose the tech giant’s workplace report, which may potentially include sensitive information on proprietary technology.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s move to open the documents to citizens and activist groups came amid allegations that Samsung’s working environment may potentially be hazardous for workers.

An official from Samsung Display said opening the assessment report to the public will reveal company technology secrets, claiming that the government should conduct an official review to decide whether the information calls for protection.

“We can provide all the documents related to proving damage from industrial disasters, but if all the content of the document is revealed to the public, our know-how and secrets built over decades will be leaked,” an Samsung official said.
