SEOUL, Sep. 23 (Korea Bizwire) – Samsung Electronics held the Samsung Image Sensor Forum 2014 in China’s Shenzhen from September 22. This is part of the company’s effort to demonstrate a variety of state-of-the-art image sensor technologies while sharing next-generation technology trends among industry participants.

At the day’s event, 300 or so developers from Chinese smartphone manufacturers and camera module suppliers were in attendance. With a theme “Being the True One in Every Moment,” the forum organizers introduced latest camera trends and Samsung’s response strategies. 

Based on its proprietary “Isocell” technology, it unveiled in the event the pixel miniaturation technology that can improve the resolution over and above 20 megapixels, as well as the phase autofocus technology for more precise camera auto focusing and the global shutter technology for taking moving images without distortion. 

Hong Gyu-shik, Samsung’s executive in charge of system LSI marketing, said, “Samsung has taken the technology leadership in the area of mobile image sensors since last year by developing industry-first Isocell and other technologies. Beginning with the Samsung Image Sensor Forum 2014 held for the first time, we hope to take the leadership in the Chinese image sensor market.” 

MediaTech senior vice president Joo Sang-ju said, “MediaTech has always focused on innovative smartphone experience of global consumers. We recently successfully developed the phase image sensor technology on Samsung’s 4G LTE True Octa-core MT6595 and MT6795 platforms.
