SEOUL, Feb. 17 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Electronics has established its first domestic Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to promote an inclusive work environment and accelerate mutual growth between employees and the company.
According to the Samsung Electronics Newsroom, the company held a launch ceremony for its Device Experience (DX) division’s ERGs on February 11 at its Digital City campus in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.
ERGs are voluntary employee networking groups designed to strengthen organizational culture based on diversity and inclusion. Samsung Electronics’ overseas operations have been running 38 ERG groups with 6,400 employees since 2014, starting in North America and expanding to Europe and Latin America.
The newly launched domestic ERGs will focus on five key areas: foreign employees, accessibility, working parents, women’s leadership, and promoting DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) culture. The groups comprise approximately 120 employees, including foreign nationals, people with disabilities, and dual-income parents, along with five executive advisors.
At the launch ceremony, ERG leaders presented their future activities, including external networking, mentoring programs, employee awareness training, and DEI campaigns, sharing plans to create an inclusive environment where all employees feel a sense of belonging.
Overseas ERGs have been conducting various networking events on occasions such as International Women’s Day and Accessibility Day, while also contributing to business competitiveness through employee talent donation programs.
Samsung Electronics plans to strengthen its organizational culture of diversity and inclusion by continuously developing women and foreign leaders. The company also emphasized its commitment to creating an in-house environment where employees with disabilities can maximize their capabilities and supporting efforts to improve accessibility in work environments and product development.
