SEOUL, June 8 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Electronics has launched an in-house artificial intelligence coding assistant named “Cline” to enhance productivity among its software developers, as the tech giant accelerates its transition toward becoming an “AI-driven company.”
According to industry sources on June 8, Samsung recently began a beta rollout of Cline for employees in its Device eXperience (DX) division. The tool, adapted from an open-source model and customized for Samsung’s internal security protocols, is designed to support the entire coding workflow—from writing and modifying code to generating test cases—based on natural language commands.
Cline enables developers to input simple requests like “create a login function,” prompting the AI to execute complex programming tasks in stages. The service aims to significantly reduce development time and improve software engineering efficiency.
The beta phase will continue through the end of June, with plans to launch the full version as early as July, following adjustments based on employee feedback.
In tandem with Cline’s introduction, Samsung has established a new “AI Productivity Innovation Group” within the DX division. This unit will act as a control tower to oversee company-wide AI infrastructure development, promote the adoption of AI tools across business units, and disseminate best practices.
Additionally, each division has set up an “AI Productivity Innovation Office” to further institutionalize AI integration into daily workflows.
The moves underscore Samsung’s strategic push in 2025 to lead the global AI transformation not only through product development but also by embedding AI deeply into its internal operations.
