SEOUL, Sep. 16 (Korea Bizwire) – Samsung Electronics will hold a two-day open-source conference between September 16 and 17 to allow developers to share ideas on the new industry trend at the Grand InterContinental in Seoul’s Gangnam. The Samsung Open Source Conference, or SOSCON, will cover a variety of topics from the Internet of things, big data, and cloud computing in different sessions.
Keynote speakers for the event include Jono Bacon, former community manager of Ubuntu and the current XPrize community manager, and Lee Min-suk of NHN Next. The latest conference will feature themes such as the importance of open-source movement, the history of the open-source communities, and efforts to nurture open-source developers in Korea.
Choi Jong-duk, vice president of Samsung’s software center, said, “With this year’s event as a momentum, I’d like to see more software developers participate in open-source projects.” He added that his company will keep holding the same event every year to foster the open-source ecosystem.
