SEOUL, Jul. 30 (Korea Bizwire) – For the second consecutive year, Samsung Electronics has been named the most desirable company to work for among college students in South Korea, according to a recent survey.

The employment website Incruit announced on July 29 that it had conducted a survey of 962 job-seeking college students nationwide. The survey asked participants to choose their preferred employer from among the top 130 companies listed on the Korean stock exchange by market capitalization.

Samsung Electronics emerged as the top choice, garnering 8.1% of the votes. The tech giant has consistently ranked in the top 10 since 2014 and reclaimed the top spot last year after a decade.

When asked why they chose Samsung Electronics, 39.7% of respondents cited “satisfactory salary and compensation system” as the primary reason. “Pride in being a member of the company” followed at 24.4%.

Naver, the country’s leading internet company, climbed one spot to second place with 7.2% of the votes. Kakao, which held the second position last year, slipped to third with 5.5%.

The remainder of the top 10 included Hyundai Motor (4.7%), CJ ENM (3.3%), Amorepacific (3.2%), CJ CheilJedang (3.0%), Korean Air (2.9%), and SK Hynix (2.5%).

LG Electronics and S-Oil shared the 10th position, each receiving 2% of the votes. This marks LG Electronics’ first appearance in the top 10 since 2005, while S-Oil made its debut on the coveted list.

The survey also revealed preferences based on academic majors. Samsung Electronics was the top choice (14.8%) among engineering and electronics students.

Naver led (7.9%) among those studying humanities, social sciences, business, and education. Samsung Biologics was the favorite (6.2%) for students in natural sciences, medicine, and life sciences.
