SEOUL, Aug. 16 (Korea Bizwire) — Users of Samsung Electronics Co.’s foldable smartphones have different interests, according to a recent data analysis.
Galaxy Fold users tend to enjoy golf and electric vehicles, while Galaxy Z Flip users are interested in fashion, beauty and social media.
SK Telecom Co., South Korea’s top wireless carrier, analyzed user data for the tech giant’s foldable series. The analysis showed that Galaxy Fold users made use of car-related apps 150 percent more than other Samsung handset users.
In addition, Galaxy Fold owners made use of golf apps and overseas direct purchase apps 120 percent and 20 percent more, respectively, than other Samsung users.
Classifying Galaxy Fold users by age, those in their 30s accounted for the largest share of 29 percent, followed by those in their 40s at 28 percent, 50s at 18 percent, and 20s at 15 percent.
Compared to users of other Samsung handsets, Galaxy Z Flip users made more use of fashion, selfie, beauty and fitness apps.
In particular, Flip users made use of fashion apps and selfie apps 40 percent and 30 percent more than other Samsung handset users.
The Galaxy Z Flip series’ Flex mode, which can be activated by placing the phone on a stable flat surface and folding it 90 degrees, contributed to increasing the usage of selfie apps.
Galaxy Z Flip users also made more use of social media apps such as Instagram. The number of Galaxy Z Flip users who said they used Instagram was more than twice as high as that of Galaxy Fold users.
They also used Instagram 2.5 times more often than Galaxy Fold users.
