SEOUL, Feb. 5 (Korea Bizwire) - A comprehensive evaluation of four tablet computers sold in South Korea has identified the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ as the leading value-for-money option, offering superior battery life and solid performance for its price point.
The Korea Consumer Agency announced on February 4 that its testing revealed significant variations among the devices, with battery life varying by up to 1.4 times between models and notable differences in weight and additional features such as water resistance and dust protection.
The study examined four tablets: the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+, Galaxy Tab S9 FE+, iPad Air 13, and Lenovo P12. In display quality testing, which evaluated brightness, color accuracy, color gamut, and brightness uniformity, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ emerged as the top performer. The iPad Air 13 and Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ received “good” ratings, while the Lenovo P12 was rated “average.”
For audio quality, which tested frequency response, effective frequency range, and total harmonic distortion (THD), the iPad Air 13 led the pack, with both Samsung tablets rated “good” and the Lenovo P12 receiving an “average” rating.
App launch speed tests showed excellent performance from both the Galaxy Tab S10+ and iPad Air 13, while the Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ and Lenovo P12 achieved “good” ratings.
In stylus performance testing, which measured the gap between pen position and drawn lines, the Galaxy Tab S10+ and iPad Air 13 excelled, followed by the Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ with a “good” rating and the Lenovo P12 rated “average.”
Camera quality evaluations placed the Galaxy Tab S10+ and iPad Air 13 in the top tier, with the other two devices receiving “good” ratings.
Battery life testing revealed the Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ lasting 9 hours and 35 minutes, while the iPad Air 13 ran for 6 hours and 53 minutes. The agency conducted these tests by running and closing various apps in sequence at a set brightness until the devices shut down or became unusable.
The Galaxy Tab S10+ was the lightest at 574g, while the Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ was the heaviest at 640g. Pricing varied significantly, with the iPad Air 13 at 1,349,000 won, Galaxy Tab S10+ at 1,180,000 won, Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ at 705,600 won, and Lenovo P12 at 424,200 won.
A representative from the Korea Consumer Agency advised, “When selecting a tablet, consumers should carefully compare display quality, audio performance, app performance, stylus functionality, camera quality, battery life, included accessories, weight, and additional features based on their primary intended use.”
