SEOUL, Jan. 23 (Korea Bizwire)South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics Co. ranked top in customer loyalty for the second year in a row for its smartphones and televisions in the United States, a New York-based market tracker said Wednesday.

Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea’s leading automaker, secured first place in car brand loyalty for the 10th consecutive year, according to the 2019 Customer Loyalty Engagement Index released by Brand Keys.

Samsung maintained its No. 1 position in the smartphone category from 2002 to 2007 but subsequently handed the crown to Apple after the U.S. tech giant launched the iPhone. Samsung retook the title last year and has held onto it this year.

The Korean electronics maker retained its top spot in the flat-screen TV category for 2019, trailed by its local rival LG Electronics Inc., which was No. 1 in 2017.

Brand Keys has published annual polls on customer relationships with 822 brands in 90 categories sold in the U.S. market since 1997.
