SEOUL, Jan. 14 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Electronics is set to launch “Galaxy Easy Trade-in” (unofficial translation), a new buyback program for used smartphones, on its Samsung.com platform starting January 14.
According to Samsung, customers looking to sell their used Galaxy smartphones can visit the Galaxy Easy Trade-in page on Samsung.com beginning January 14 to receive an estimated quote and apply for the program.
After shipping their devices following the provided return guidelines, the phones will be evaluated and classified into three grades: Excellent, Good, or Recycle, with compensation provided according to the assigned grade.
Previously, the trade-in program, known as “Exchange Compensation,” only allowed customers to trade in their old devices when purchasing new ones. The new program will be available anytime through Samsung.com.
Likewize, a Samsung Electronics partner company, will manage all aspects of the program, including collection and compensation.
The Galaxy Easy Trade-in program will initially launch in South Korea before expanding to other global markets. In South Korea, eligible models include the Galaxy S23, S22, S21, and S20 series, as well as the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Fold 4, Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 5, Flip 4, and Flip 3.
Eligible models may vary by country. Detailed information will be available on Samsung.com starting January 14.
Samsung Electronics plans to establish a convenient and secure used smartphone compensation system by reselling or recycling smartphones acquired through the Galaxy Easy Trade-in program.
Jung Hojin, vice president of Samsung Electronics Korea, stated, “We expect this program to improve the long-term value of Galaxy products and contribute to the circular economy.”
