SEOUL, March 8 (Korea Bizwire)Samsung Electronics Co. has launched the trial distribution of its visual aid solution for visually impaired people.

The solution, named Relumino, is a device that acts as a visual aid to visually impaired people with residual vision. This device was developed by Samsung’s in-house venture incubator program C-Lab.

Relumino consists of the Relumino app, smartphone image processing software, and a virtual reality (VR) wearable device.

The application applies tactile sense-using user experience (UX) to enable users with low vision to easily operate their smartphones without having to look at the screen. Users can view videos through a glass display in real time.

Samsung noted that the user stability of Relumino was verified through clinical tests conducted in collaboration with Samsung Medical Center.

The company distributed 30 wearable devices to visually impaired people at the Gyeonggi Community Agency of Blind and Korean actor Song Seung-hwan to verify the usability of Relumino.
